Pepperl Fuchs  KFD0-HMS-16

The KFD0-HMS-16 is a 16-channel HART Multiplexer Slave module from Pepperl+Fuchs' K-System. It is designed to operate exclusively with the HART Multiplexer Master KFD2-HMM-16, forming a complete HART multiplexing solution for accessing digital HART data from up to 16 analog field instruments without interrupting the 4-20 mA analog signal loop.

Key Features

  • 16-channel – Each slave module supports up to 16 analog field instruments

  • No external power required – Powered directly from the master module via the 14-pin flat cable connection

  • HART field device input – Supports HART revision 5 to 7

  • Scalable system – Up to 15 slave units can be connected to a single master, enabling up to 240 HART devices per system

  • Functional Safety – Certified for applications up to SIL 3 per IEC/EN 61508

System Integration & Function

  • Master-Slave operation: The KFD0-HMS-16 must be connected to the KFD2-HMM-16 master, which controls communication and provides power.

  • Addressing: A 16-position rotary switch sets the slave address (1 to 16). With a single slave, address 1 is used; when multiple slaves are connected, addresses must be assigned in ascending order.

  • Connections:

    • 26-pin flat cable for analog signal connections (HART signals from 16 measurement circuits)

    • 14-pin flat cable for master-slave connection (supply and data communication)
